Andrea Cox, LPC


       Andrea Cox, M.Ed., LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor providing evidence-based, individual, group, and family psychotherapy to children and adolescents at Children’s Advocacy Services of Greater St. Louis (CASGSL). Ms. Cox received her Master of Education in Community Counseling from the University of Missouri—St. Louis. Before working at CASGSL, Ms. Cox worked as an educator for more than thirteen years where she learned the importance of helping children work through behavioral and social concerns. In her position at CASGSL, she provides treatment to clients who have been exposed to various types of trauma, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, inter-partner violence, community violence, and traumatic grief.

       Ms. Cox is trained in the following trauma-focused treatment interventions: Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Integrated Treatment for Complex Trauma (ITCT), Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT), and Problematic Sexual Behavior Problems-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Preschool Children (PSB-CBT-P). Ms. Cox is the Program Manager for Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma in Schools (CBITS), which is a school-based group therapy intervention for trauma-impacted children. She is also on the Trauma-Informed Programming In Schools (TIPS) team where she is able to support educators in learning to better understand the impact that trauma has on academic functioning.
