Philip Sher, MSW, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing clinical services for children and adolescents at CASGSL. Mr. Sher received his Master's degree in Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.  He has previous experience implementing evidence-based violence and drug prevention group programs with an individual mental health component for St. Louis City youth.  In his position at CASGSL, Mr. Sher sees individual clients who have been exposed to various types of trauma, including sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, and traumatic loss.  He is part of the Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention Program, an empirically supported short-term treatment intervention designed to reduce the impact of trauma on children and their families immediately following a traumatic event or the child’s disclosure.  Mr. Sher also conducts group therapy for adolescents with illegal or inappropriate sexual behaviors.  In addition, he provides supervision for graduate level practicum students.  Mr. Sher’s clinical interests include the assessment and treatment of children who have been exposed to various types of trauma, as well as children presenting with disruptive or sexualized behaviors.
